Karl Rieder with the star of hospitality
As you all know, over the past few months I've been testing and reporting on all 10 Italian restaurants owned by Karl and Lucia Rieder GbR – in other words, all 10 of my "favorite Italian" restaurants in Munich. Specifically, I've enjoyed excellent meals at Romans, La Piazza, Corretto, Corso, Il Mulino, Laurus, Primafila, Menzingers, Speisemeisterei, and Trattoria Lindengarten. And it seems I wasn't the only one who enjoyed the food, because last week I had the pleasure of attending the "Star of Hospitality" award ceremony for six of the ten restaurants. The event took place at Romans, near Rotkreuzplatz in Neuhausen, one of my favorites among the ten restaurants. Karl Rieder was recognized for his commitment to quality and professional development in the restaurant industry as a participant in the Hacker-Pschorr initiative's "Successful Restaurateurs" program, which has been running for 10 years. For three years, Paulaner Brauerei GmbH & Co. KG has also been participating in this initiative and, within this framework, awarded the „Star of Hospitality“ to six establishments of Karl and Lucia Rieder GbR („My Favorite Italian“), or personally to Karl Rieder.
Star of Hospitality: 6 stars for "My Favorite Italian Restaurant"„
All six establishments, or rather Italian restaurants, that received a "Star of Hospitality" last week from the brewery, represented by Sales Director Johannes Jenne, are run by the Rieder family of restaurateurs. Congratulations are in order for the "Star of Hospitality" to... Corso Cucina in Dachau, dem La Piazza in Schwabing, the Trattoria Lindengarten in Laim, dem Ristorante Laurus in Gräfelfing, dem Corretto in Obermenzing and last but not least, the Romans in Neuhausen, which – like the Corretto – even received its second consecutive "Star of Hospitality". La Piazza and the Lindengarten, on the other hand, were delighted to receive their first star, while the Corso in Dachau was awarded its second.

The awarding of the 2nd star of hospitality to the Romans
Only a restaurant that can impress with a great menu and a cozy atmosphere will be successful in the long run. If, in addition, exceptional hospitality and the high level of commitment from the owner and team ensure a truly special dining experience for the guest, then not just a good, but an "outstanding" restaurant is created. Who enjoys going out to eat and then being annoyed by this or that? Nobody! So, if you spot the "Star of Hospitality" award in a restaurant, or if your favorite restaurant is listed on the website of the previously awarded restaurants Once you've discovered it, you can basically go there without any worries and be assured of good service and food. The brewery also provides guests with a helpful guide when choosing a restaurant.

What is the star of hospitality?
But what exactly must a restaurateur and operator achieve to be awarded the Star of Hospitality? In the mystery guest analyses conducted at the respective restaurants, they must meet over 901,000 of the assessed criteria three times consecutively within one year, meaning they must achieve an overall rating of 1 or a good 2. This evaluation provides a coherent overall impression, which determines whether guests return or choose to dine elsewhere in the future. During the analysis, the establishment or restaurant is anonymously evaluated from a guest's perspective using a questionnaire and a comprehensive checklist. Based on the results and analysis, the operator learns whether everything is satisfactory or if targeted or urgent action is required. The testing process also includes numerous quality and service tests, which all restaurants undergo. Furnishings and ambiance, beer and beverage presentation, and, of course, the food selection and presentation all play a significant role. If a restaurant owner receives the "Star of Hospitality," it means that everything went perfectly in three consecutive comprehensive tests (with over 90% points) and the anonymous and diverse testers were satisfied. This was also the case with the six "My Favorite Italian" restaurants mentioned.
Congratulations again to the owners, Karl and Lucia Rieder, and the respective operators of the individual restaurants. From now on, look out for the "Star of Hospitality" award at the various restaurants. As mentioned: "If you see the star, you'll love it here!" 🙂
