Weihenstephan LogoWeihenstephan Creamy Apricot Yogurt | Product Review A while ago, I attended a press breakfast hosted by Weihenstephan. The dairy and popular brand Weihenstephan is probably familiar to everyone, and most of you have likely had one or more of their products in your shopping basket and thus on your breakfast table or in your cooking pot. At the event, Weihenstephan aimed to demonstrate how simple and versatile daily breakfast preparation can be – using basic products like yogurt, quark, and milk. I got into a conversation about the individual products. Now I'll introduce you to a few of them.

About the Weihenstephan dairy

The Weihenstephan dairy has made it its mission to serve the premium segment of dairy products. Around 380,000 liters of milk, 320,000 cups of yogurt and buttermilk, and 60,000 sticks of butter are produced every single day. Incredible, isn't it? That's roughly 300 million dairy products a year. Whether it's milk, cocoa, cream, butter, fruit or natural yogurt, fruit quark, or buttermilk, the range is extensive, with over 70 different Weihenstephan products available in the refrigerated section. One of them is the new Weihenstephan Apricot Creamy Yogurt.

At the aforementioned event, several of the 16 different varieties of Weihenstephan creamy yogurt were on the breakfast table. Two additional varieties are added each spring, summer, and winter. One of these is the Weihenstephan apricot creamy yogurt, available in supermarkets since January 2016. I particularly enjoy this new apricot creamy yogurt because it has the same creaminess as all Weihenstephan yogurts, while also offering a pleasantly mild sweetness thanks to the apricot fruit.

While I'm known to be a big fan of sweet foods and desserts, I don't necessarily need them at breakfast or in my yogurt. Likewise, I dislike it when yogurt is too sour or simply bland and tastes like "nothing." That's partly why I found the surprisingly fresh taste of this creamy yogurt, combined with small pieces of apricot, so appealing. The yogurt is refined exclusively with natural flavorings, carefully and gently processed, and thus remains—in my opinion—perfectly creamy. It tastes slightly sweet, but not too sweet, and a 150-gram container disappears in no time. The fruit pieces have a pleasant crunch and further enhance the fruity aroma.

Key facts and personal conclusion

A 150-gram tub of Weihenstephan apricot cream yogurt costs 69 cents in the supermarket and contains approximately 215 kilocalories. The yogurt consists of cream yogurt, sugar, apricots, apricot puree, apricot juice from concentrate, coloring plant concentrates from pumpkin, apple, and carrot, and natural flavoring. The fruit content of the final product is 8.61 TTP3T. It's best to store the yogurt at around 8 degrees Celsius in the refrigerator to ensure it stays fresh until the best-before date.

The new apricot cream yogurt

I find the apricot cream yogurt very delicious. I like the pieces in the creamy yogurt and the subtle sweetness. At just under 70 cents per cup, the price is also reasonable. I noticed a clear difference in taste compared to other yogurt brands. I recommend this yogurt either as a small snack or as a base for breakfast. Add some fruit and muesli, and you have the perfect breakfast. Grab a cup or two for your next breakfast and let me know what you think.

I'll buy again: Yes.

Dear Bianca,
I think your blog is great, please keep doing what you're doing!

I personally do not buy any products from Müller Milch, Weihenstephan (which belongs to Müller Milch), etc.!
But mostly I buy products from Berchtesgadener Land, because I know that the dairy products come from happy, well-cared-for cows, for example, from farms in my neighborhood! But almost nobody knows that!!
