Biancas Tasty Tour Flughafen MuenchenCloud 7 – Superfood and crêpes at the airport My Tasty Tour at Munich Airport continues. As you've probably already seen on my Bianca's Blog Facebook Fanpage As you may have noticed, I was at my 3rd test for #biancastastytour At Munich Airport, in the newly opened Cloud 7 (June 19, 2016). The name of the location is spot on in every respect: The atmosphere, the food, and the prime location – there couldn't be a better name. Why? Because the café/restaurant is situated on the airport's wonderful visitor terrace, offering a breathtaking view of the runway, aircraft, and – weather permitting – a beautifully blue sky. A spacious terrace with deck chairs, tables and chairs – some in the sun, some in the shade – an ice cream stand, summery background music, and simply good vibes await you at Cloud 7.

Superfood Salad

I was lucky on my visit: the sky was blue, the atmosphere and music were great, and my companion and I were quite hungry. I already knew before I arrived that Cloud 7's culinary motto was "healthy cuisine from breakfast to lunch to after-work drinks," so I was pleased to find a selection of both traditional and superfood dishes. For example, there was a chia seed pudding with berries, a superfood salad bowl, various crêpes, the pasta of the day, fresh smoothies, and much more.

After browsing the menu, I decided against the daily pasta special and opted instead for the permanent Superfood Salad with quinoa, goji berries, figs, hazelnuts, avocado, hummus, and a fruity agave syrup and lemon dressing. Yes, I know – it sounds delicious, and admittedly, just typing this makes me want it again. The generously portioned salad, fairly priced at €11.90, was fantastic. Fresh, filling, varied, and not at all boring. A salad is usually never enough for me as a main course, unless, for example, it's piled high with strong goat cheese. I always need a main course afterward. Not so with this lavish and – I have to mention it again – incredibly delicious salad. The perfect lunch on a sunny, summery day. My companion, on the other hand, laughed at the weekly changing business lunch menu, featuring dishes from Monday to Friday (from 10:00 AM) for €7.90 or €9.90, including a 0.2l soft drink. See what I mean? Airports don't have to be expensive. Quite the opposite! Show me another lunch spot with such a cool atmosphere, usually expensive superfoods, and prices like these. Not so easy, huh? Anyway… my companion ordered a very filling couscous salad with fried chicken strips. It was a coincidence that it was also a salad. On the following weekdays, dishes like pasta with tuna or bruschetta with pesto, pastrami, and tomato were on the menu. Take a look at the pictures of the dishes. You'll also find the two drinks we ordered as the house recommendation there. I had a homemade lemonade with ginger, cucumber, and mint (€3.90), which is the perfect summer drink and something you should definitely try. It's presented quite nicely in a glass pitcher with a screw-top lid and a colorful straw. My companion, who – like me – didn't fancy any alcohol, also ordered a "Virgin Colada" (€4.90). The sweet coconut drink, similar to a non-alcoholic Piña Colada, was perfect for her.

Virgin Colada and homemade lemonade

All in all, everything was wonderful. My companion's chicken was tender, plentiful, and attractively presented. My salad was absolutely fantastic, and I can wholeheartedly recommend ordering everything. The service is extremely friendly and attentive. For example, I didn't want to sit in the sun, so they simply moved our preferred table into the shade. They always make sure that guests have everything they need, and we weren't "released" until we sampled the fresh ice cream in various flavors (made by the "Eisbayer" ice cream parlor). I know—poor us! 😉 I opted for a scoop of hazelnut ice cream, while my companion chose a portion of blueberry sourbet. A refreshing, very fruity, and intensely nutty flavor experience—a perfect ending to the meal. (Other flavors change regularly; classics like strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, etc., are always available.)

The terrace of Cloud 7

You can have breakfast here daily from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. For example, they offer Weisswurst with a pretzel (€6.90), various egg dishes with bacon or bratwurst, and a selection of pastries. Also worth mentioning: the business lunch served during the week is guaranteed to be delivered to your table within 8 minutes of ordering. So, if you happen to stop by at lunchtime, you won't have to wait long. The three main attractions at Cloud 7 are, firstly, the Sunday brunch (14.90€) from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, featuring a variety of classic dishes, Italian appetizers, superfoods, and more; secondly, the after-work gatherings, held every Thursday from approximately 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, where a selection of tapas and refreshing drinks are offered to the accompaniment of lounge music (e.g., 5 tapas and 2 drinks for 14.90€ or 8 tapas and 3 drinks for 24.90€). The third important aspect of Cloud 7 is its event space, available on the terrace and in the restaurant for private or corporate events. Cloud 7 can be rented for events of any size, with a maximum capacity of 400 people (including the terrace) or just the indoor space (150 people standing / 50 seated). Don't hesitate to inquire about smaller, private events as well. Projector, music, screen and other equipment are available and the atmosphere is simply unbeatable.

Inside the Cloud 7

Cloud 7 is open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, but if things get really busy, you won't be turned away at exactly 8:00 PM. Card payments are accepted. You can find Cloud 7 by coming from the MAC Forum, entering Terminal 2, taking the escalator upstairs, and then... Mangostin Airport And Bagutta (report to follow) goes up the stairs and all the way to the back. If you work at Munich Airport, you get a 20% discount on everything.

I absolutely loved Cloud 7, and if I hadn't already been full and a bit pressed for time, I'd probably still be sitting there counting airplanes while sipping my soda. 🙂 So, next time you're looking for the perfect spot to soak up some sunshine without the crowds, think of me—or rather, Cloud 7—hop in the car (3 hours of free parking!), and head on over. I promise you won't regret it. I'd even go so far as to say that Cloud 7 could become a new hotspot for meet-and-greets if enough people knew about it and actually went. Definitely try the delicious salad and an ice cream. My next visit will be for breakfast or brunch and the crêpes. But feel free to grab a scoop of ice cream for me in the meantime!
