From the very beginning, it has stood for "Time for Good Things," which is realized through fresh, high-quality products with great taste. The lovingly handcrafted food and drinks at GENUSSWERK, combined with the open and friendly atmosphere of the café, are designed to provide the perfect break for recharging and rejuvenating. With healthy breakfast options, a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, homemade waffles, cakes, and much more, GENUSSWERK ensures that guests always feel comfortable and well cared for. The Genusswerk Munich in the Pasing Arcades

Arrival at GENUSSWERK Munich – Pasing

Depending on which direction you're coming from and approaching GENUSSWERK, located on the upper floor of the Pasing Arcades, you'll either pass the self-service café area set up along the glass facade of the arcades, or – coming from the other direction – you'll find yourself directly in front of GENUSSWERK Munich, which is designed with lots of wood and warm colors and integrated into the shopping arcade. After a friendly greeting, you can browse the extensive menu on the order boards. At the counter/order area, you then choose what you'd like, tell the friendly staff, and after taking a seat, you'll be called via pager when your food is ready for pickup. If you like to watch your bread being sliced, spread, or topped, you can do so thanks to the open layout. Personally, I always prefer to sit down and wait until my food – attractively presented – is ready for collection.

Everything is freshly prepared for you at GENUSSWERK.

Food offer

From morning to evening, GENUSSWERK München offers a good selection of healthy dishes, different breakfasts, sandwiches, various homemade cakes, waffles, vanilla ice cream, as well as coffee and tea varieties. Those who enjoy breakfast, Those who want to can already enjoy a breakfast starting at eight euros. The "Small Breakfast" consists of a slice of bread with jam and cream cheese, along with a small hot beverage of their choice. Alternatively, there are five other signature breakfasts, thoughtfully curated by GENUSSWERK: "Fitness Breakfast" with yogurt and fresh fruit, muesli, freshly squeezed orange juice, and a hot beverage for 10 euros; "Sweet Breakfast" with a croissant, Bircher muesli, jam, and a hot beverage for 9 euros; "Egg-Egg Breakfast" with scrambled eggs served in a glass, chive bread, freshly squeezed orange juice, and a hot beverage for 10 euros; "Bavarian Breakfast" with a pair of Weisswurst (from Magnus Bauch), a pretzel, and homemade mustard for 8 euros; or the "Breakfast for Two" with Prosecco, scrambled eggs, bread, croissants, muesli, and much more, starting at 35 euros).

For me, the "flagship" of GENUSSWERK Munich: The differently spread/topped breads. You can choose between "cold" slices of bread with over 10 different variations (between €3.90 and €7.50) or the warm option in the form of toasted white, rye, or mixed wheat bread (between €5.00 and €8.50). The selection is diverse, and there should be something for everyone who loves bread. Don't just imagine a thin slice of bread with an equally thin topping, but rather a real "filler," as they don't skimp on the toppings or the thickness of the slices.

Sandwiches with different toppings.

Starting with the (cold) "chive" or "jam" bread, there are also simple toppings like "salami bread," "serrano ham bread," "bruschetta bread," or even the Bavarian Obatzda bread. Also delicious are the "chipiti avocado" bread or bread with crab on top. Vegans should opt for the eggplant or avocado bread. If you prefer something warm, you can choose bread with serrano ham and mountain cheese (for €6.50), with mushrooms (vegan | for €6), with "Indian curry" spread (for €8.50), or with "tonno artichoke" (for €6.50). While I was perusing the menu, displayed on black slate boards, the "potato and rosemary," the "hummus," and the "Alsatian" bread were also ordered. Everything looked really delicious. My choice wavered between the "Strammer Moritz" (with 2 organic fried eggs, air-dried rendered Tuscan bacon and fresh tomato; for 8.50 euros) and the aforementioned "Tonno Artichoke Bread" – I opted for the latter.

The best bread is used at GENUSSWERK Munich.

While my bread was being freshly sliced, toasted, and lovingly topped, I continued browsing the menu (…which, by the way, will soon be available in printed form on the tables…). A separate board listed the "Seasonal Specials," which included items like "Iced Latte" (0.4l/€5), "Indian Summer" (rooibos vanilla tea with honey, cinnamon, and milk foam | 0.4l/€5), and "Dash" (apple and mango juice with crushed ice, blackcurrant nectar, an orange slice, and a mint leaf | 0.4l/€4.50). Also intriguing, and sometimes noticeable from afar, was the aroma of freshly prepared… homemade waffles (for €3.50), which you shouldn't miss. They're made with high-quality spelt flour and locally sourced eggs. If you jazz them up with eggnog, cream, Nutella, vanilla ice cream, or even cinnamon sugar (from €0.50), they taste even better. They impress less with their aroma and more with their fantastic appearance. various homemade cakes, such as sour cream and mandarin orange cake, apple crumble cake, chocolate cake, and many more. Fresh cakes are baked several times a day. For those who just want a small sweet snack, there are Florentines and small chocolate kisses (available in three chocolate varieties; made by the "Gmeiner" confectionery). I've also had the pleasure of trying the delicious and also homemade vanilla ice cream (in three sizes), which can be jazzed up with various toppings (for €1 each: Smarties, chocolate shavings). There is also numerous hot drinks (Supremo coffee! – Cappuccino from €3.50; Latte Macchiato from €3.50), countless varieties Premium leaf teas (for 3.50 euros) and also many different ones Variations with hot chocolate (from €3.50 for the smaller version). Personally, I also appreciate that it's Coca-Cola. Soft drinks as well as "Manufaktur Proviant" smoothies in various varieties.

Homemade Bircher muesli for breakfast?

I tried it myself! …and how good it tasted.

Okay, enough looking, time to try. Since I've been there quite a few times, I was already familiar with some of the classics, so I deliberately chose a new one: "Paté di Tonno Bread" – a rye-wheat mixed bread with tuna, artichoke, and sun-dried tomatoes (for €6.50), which was attractively presented and served in a good portion. Since I wanted to experience the hot and cold versions side-by-side, I also ordered the "Tuna Artichoke Bread" in a toasted white bread version to try the "warm" tuna bread alternative. Preparation only takes a few minutes – depending on the toppings – and is, of course, very hygienic, so everything else is just right. As mentioned, they don't skimp on the toppings, and you can tell that the bread is made with high-quality ingredients. I really enjoyed it; the warm version was even better than the cold one. If you're just a little hungry, a slice of bread will definitely fill you up. If you eat two different kinds, you'll certainly be satisfied for several hours. I had a tea (be sure to check out the tea station!) and a banana milk with an "extra twist" to go (…I won't spoil the surprise, just ask when you get there…) ;-). The salads served with the bread spreads are from Feinkost Kugler and are refined and customized according to GENUSSWERK Munich's own recipe. Anyone with a discerning palate will recognize from the first bite that no expense has been spared on quality.

Don't leave the café/GENUSSWERK Munich without taking a look in the shop area. There you'll find wonderful things, and in addition to the five different coffee varieties (our own roasts and blends for GENUSSWERK Munich, roasted by Supremo), there are also numerous gift ideas, tableware, bags, scarves, mugs, and everything else that's simply fun to buy, bring along, or give as a gift for special occasions. Pay attention to the details: Fresh flowers are always displayed on the large, sturdy wooden tables, which are laden with beautiful items to buy and take home (…just like on the café tables…), creating an even warmer atmosphere. Thermal mugs with the GENUSSWERK logo are also available. Browse the shelves; you're sure to find something lovely for yourself or your loved ones.

Hard facts and personal opinion

In my opinion, it's worth stopping by for a leisurely breakfast, a snack between shopping trips, or before heading home to the sofa. Even if the queue is a bit long, you never really have to wait long at GENUSSWERK. It's also convenient that you don't have to eat in the café area, which seats around 90 people (or the terrace, which seats around 50), but can take everything to go – including the cakes. I especially appreciate that the café is bright and welcoming, and you can almost always find a spot to enjoy your bread, breakfast, cake, etc., in a cozy atmosphere. Anyone thinking, "Shopping mall atmosphere while eating – no thanks!" can rest assured, as GENUSSWERK Munich and its seating areas are very bright and inviting with plenty of natural light, fresh flowers and plants, and high ceilings – in other words, very airy and spacious. Overall, I think you quickly feel at ease at GENUSSWERK. And everything tastes great, you can see and taste the attention to detail and the high quality. Thumbs up, I'll be back. Who's coming with me?
