Masi Wine Bar Munich – evening tasting menus | You know I'm a big fan of Masi Wine Bar Munich I am a regular customer and have been following the wine bar, which opened in summer 2021 at Maximiliansplatz, since its inception. Besides enjoying delicious dinners and the Saturday brunch introduced at the end of 2022, I am a frequent visitor, savoring excellent Masi wine and good Italian cuisine.

It is all the more pleasing that Masi has once again come up with a highlight for his Munich wine bar guests, impressing them with monthly tasting menus including accompanying Masi wines and exciting stories.

In March, I had the pleasure of attending one of their brand-new event evenings and enjoyed a delicious menu paired with high-quality Masi wines. Learn more about the concept, the tasting menus, and how you can join in below.

Is Masi new to you? – The Masi story began in the late 18th century when the Boscaini family started acquiring valuable vineyards in the small valley "Vaio dei Masi" – which also gave the company its name – in the heart of the classic Valpolicella wine region. Masi bought and developed numerous vineyards and is considered THE leading Amarone producer. Masi now owns other historic wineries in the region, so you can also enjoy delicate sparkling wines, white wines, rosés, and more at the bar. The family-run winery Masi has always passionately represented the values of Veneto and offers the finest wines, perfectly suited to a wide variety of occasions, tastes, and dishes.

If you visit Masi Wine Bar Munich, you can expect the finest wines, combined with classic Italian cuisine and high-quality dishes. The focus at the bar is clearly on the wine; you should ideally select it before ordering your food and then let the trained team advise you on suitable pairings. That's how it is. Masi Wine Bar Menu The menu is deliberately concise yet diverse. There's sure to be something to suit every taste and occasion; snacks and antipasti are also available. A small shop selling the finest Masi wines, jams, olive oil, and other local products is also part of the bar.

You are welcome whether you're looking for a full dinner with wine pairings, a relaxed lunch, or simply a glass of wine after work with colleagues and friends. The Masi team will be happy to advise you personally and informally at your table, introducing you to Masi's wines and the special features of the wine list. If you're open to trying new things, you can, of course, simply choose your desired dishes and let yourself be surprised and guided by the wine pairings. In short: everyone is welcome at the Masi Wine Bar.

New at Masi: monthly tasting menus with wine pairings

To give you the new event series To give you a better idea, I'll take you back to the table afterwards, introduce you to the wines and dishes we enjoyed, and explain the concept of the evening. If you personally attend one of the next Masi tasting evenings, you can expect a different, fantastic menu and correspondingly paired (different) wines. That's how it has Each tasting evening has a different "Masi Wine Theme"„, which is addressed in a related context.

The tasting evening we attended, for example, focused on the exciting Grape drying technique, called "Appassimento"„, This ancient drying method, known in the wine world since Roman times, has been meticulously adapted to modern times and technology by Masi, or rather, the "Gruppo Tecnico Masi." Today, excellent wines are produced using this time-honored technique. In keeping with the evening's theme, an exclusive dinner, accompanied by fine Masi wines produced using this drying method, was held under the banner of "The Art of 'Appassimento': The Heart of Amarone.".

Course by course and glass by glass, the secrets of Amarone were revealed in a relaxed atmosphere, accompanied by anecdotes throughout the evening, and fascinating facts about each wine were shared. All the guests learned, in an entertaining way, how the typical Valpolicella grapes are laid out carefully and patiently on airy bamboo panels to dry throughout the winter, and how this process develops the aroma and bouquet of the resulting wines. We enjoyed delicious culinary specialties paired with these excellent Appassimento wines.

Course two: Artichoke tortelli with Rosa dei Masi in a glass

It started with Carpaccio of red tuna, sun-dried tomatoes, Lake Garda olives and moxxé dressing. The first wine of the evening, a sparkling one, was poured into the glass. Sparkling wine MOXXÉ, Pinot Grigio & Verduzzo, Spumante Brut. Between each course and wine, the most defining and characteristic features of the respective wine were presented, along with information about its production. For me personally, this enhanced the enjoyment of the wine, combined with relevant background knowledge.

After a short break, we continued with homemade Artichoke tortelli combined with prawns fried in Rosa dei Masi further. The shrimp enjoyed a brief bath in the same wine that was served in glasses during the second course, which ROSA DEI MASI – Rosato TreVenezie Igt – for me, sometimes one of the favorites of the evening.

The main course of the tasting menu was Pink roasted duck breast with celery puree, blueberries, bell pepper chips and an Amarone reduction. We also enjoyed another of my favorite Masi drinks by the glass, a COSTASERA – Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Docg in a vibrant red color, with intense aromas and a pleasant melt on the tongue.

To conclude the evening and the meal, there was a Italian chocolate cake „Salami“ You're all surely familiar with this typical Italian dessert. This small dessert was combined with a sophisticated GRAPPA MEZZANELLA – Grappa di Amarone, Cantina Privata Boscaini.
