I first noticed Café L'Amar when I was having dinner with my companion at Hey Luigi and, after finishing our meal, we headed in the opposite direction for a short post-dinner stroll. Café L'Amar is quite tiny, with about eight tables inside and another five to seven outside.

First of all, I have to say that the service, in terms of the staff's friendliness – especially the single waiter – was absolutely perfect. Very polite and attentive; for example, my companion dropped his knife, and without us even asking, the waiter immediately brought a new one – excellent service, in my opinion. Unfortunately, the wait for our two main courses was a different story. We had to wait over 45 minutes for a salad and a plate of pasta (for €14.90) after ordering. The café wasn't even full. Even when we left, only four tables were occupied. Although the menus were presented to us immediately after we sat down, both the drink and food orders and the service itself took an unusually long time.

Basically, the Menus They offered a fairly good selection. An additional menu with daily specials, such as various asparagus dishes, was also available. After some deliberation, I opted for the goat cheese salad from the regular menu (for €11.90). My companion chose pasta with white wine sauce and scampi, which turned out to be quite firm to the bite, but still tasty. The scampi had to be removed from their shells, which I always find a bit tricky in a finished pasta dish with sauce. Overall, my companion's dish was fine and flavorful. Unfortunately, I wasn't just "not impressed" with my salad, but rather quite disappointed. I was served far too large leaves of lettuce – only lettuce, no other type – which I always find very boring. It was dressed with far too much oil, and the partially melted goat cheese barely made it edible; I mainly tasted oil. The food was far too expensive for the quality offered, the wait time, and the ultimately underwhelming taste. For drinks, we chose a Hugo (€5.80) and a Margherita (0.2l/€8.40). The Hugo was served in a standard, small drinking glass and tasted mediocre. In my opinion, a Hugo should be a good mix of Prosecco, water, and elderflower syrup, and is perfected with ice and mint. The Hugo at Café L'Amar was average and, personally, not sweet enough for my taste.

In the small display case of Café L'Amar, a variety of very delicious-looking antipasti were on display. We decided against an appetizer that evening, but an older couple at the next table were enjoying several and praising them highly. So, if you ever decide to eat there, you should definitely try the different antipasti selection. I would definitely advise against the salad. The pasta was fine if you prefer it slightly al dente. As mentioned, the place is very small and therefore quite intimate. Nevertheless, it's inviting from the outside, and you can certainly feel comfortable there, as Café L'Amar – at least to us – felt warm and welcoming. You can definitely sit and chat in peace. But be prepared to wait, because our waiter – although friendly – was incredibly "leisurely.".

The restaurant also offers breakfast. You can find the breakfast menu here. here. Individual items such as boiled eggs (€1.50), fried eggs with bread (€5.90), ham and cheese omelette (€6.90), vegetable omelette with peppers, zucchini and tomatoes (€6.90), tomato and mozzarella omelette (€6.90), etc., can be ordered, or complete breakfasts such as the "Vital Breakfast" for €13.90 consisting of scrambled eggs or omelette, herb cream cheese, yogurt with fresh fruit, orange juice (0.1l), bread basket with butter and jam; The "Italiano" breakfast for €10.90 – a small portion of Parma ham and cheese, 1 boiled egg, bread basket with butter and jam – or the breakfast for two people for €27.90 consisting of two glasses of Prosecco or orange juice (0.1 l), two croissants, scrambled eggs, herb cream cheese, Italian cheese and salami platter.,

Café L'Amar also offers a wide selection of wines, which can be tasted on-site or purchased by the bottle to take home. The small restaurant can be rented in its entirety for private parties and celebrations for groups of 20 or more. The café also features a vaulted cellar for parties and events, creating a truly special ambiance and a cozy atmosphere. You can see pictures of it here. here You won't see anything unusual when entering and dining normally in the café. Gift vouchers are also available upon request. We ultimately paid €44 including tip. Card payments are accepted at Café L'Amar.

I wouldn't exactly discourage you from going to Café L'Amar, but you're not really missing out either. As mentioned, the service is good, and the waiter was very attentive. The food isn't really recommended; perhaps I should give their breakfast a try sometime. The atmosphere is nice, and the prices are okay, or rather, a little high for the quality, as mentioned. Maybe—if you happen to be in the area—take a look and give it a shot.

I'll be back: Despite the friendly service, not at first, even though the ambiance is pleasant and the atmosphere is cozy.
