GALLERY RESTAURANT „AL CONVENTO“ at Eataly – Eataly Munich invites you on a journey to Campania. Since January 3, 2017, the new gallery restaurant "Al Convento" has been delighting guests with local dishes from the Campania region. With the opening of this new restaurant, Eataly Munich also introduced a new pop-up restaurant concept: Every two months, a different chef attracts lovers of Italian food to Munich's Schrannenhalle with their regional specialties. Visitors can also look forward to many new cooking workshops in January.
The head chef of the new gallery restaurant "Al Convento" is an attraction in himself: Pasquale Torrente was born in 1965 in Cetara, a picturesque village on the Amalfi Coast. His family opened the trattoria "Al Convento" there in 1969 in a former 17th-century monastery. Today, it is considered one of the best restaurants in Italy. Now, Pasquale Torrente travels the world with his regional cuisine – from Rome and Istanbul to Dubai and, of course, Germany – working closely with Eataly. L'Espresso magazine already named his restaurant "Best Trattoria 2017." Since January 3rd, he has been cooking at the Schrannenhalle in Munich. The menu includes dishes such as prawns with potatoes and tuna roe, spaghetti con Colatura di Alici (Colatura di Alici di Cetara is a traditional fish sauce produced in Cetara on the Amalfi Coast), meatballs in the style of Mamma Gilda and Zeppole di Patate, a typical fried and then sugar-coated pastry from Naples.
What comes after Al Convento at Eataly?
Following "RiminiRimini" and "Al Convento," the restaurant "Oresteria," serving dishes from the Italian region of Lazio, will open from March to April. In May and June, the restaurant "Ö Magazin" will offer Ligurian cuisine, and from September to October, the gallery will be themed around Sicily, with the opening of the restaurant "Fattoria delle Torri.".
