The Cooking Professionals – Mission for the Heart | The Big Cookbook „Best of“ – As you, as attentive readers of my website and reports, know, I don't present too many books, or rather, only those that I actually use, pick up, and read. Too often—let's be honest—you buy a book and then…yes, then it sits on the shelf gathering dust. To avoid this and to only present you with books that don't fall victim to this sad phenomenon, you'll find them on my website. Book reviews from Bianca's blog Only books that I use and that are always a pleasure to use.

The perfect segue to the book I'd like to introduce to you today: "The Cooking Pros – On the Job | The Big Cookbook – Best of". Why? For several reasons. Firstly, I recently interviewed the charming Andi Schweiger – one of the cooking pros and also a judge in Munich during our filming of "The Big Cooking Pro Battle" – (Interview with Andi SchweigerOn the one hand, I've already reviewed the three previous cookbooks by the "Kochprofi" (Cooking Professional) and I thought they were great. On top of that, even I (…Bianca = NO cooking professional) found them easy to understand; all the recipes are clearly laid out and easy to follow. So, it was a no-brainer for me to get the "Best of" book, again published by [publisher name], just like the other books. Tre Torri Publishing, to examine it more closely. And that's what I did.

Introducing the professional chefs

What can you expect in the "The Cooking Professionals - On the Job | Best of" book?

Lots of deliciousness! The "Best of" chefs' book begins by introducing the chefs as a group, their mission, and their show, before moving on to individual short profiles of the four chefs. Andi Schweiger, Frank Oehler, Ole Plogstedt, and Nils Egtermeyer are the four chefs you can regularly see cooking on RTL2 in the evenings on their show of the same name. This newly released book, which accompanies the series, presents... 352 pages The best recipes from professional chefs are presented in a "Best of" format. You can find them in the clear table of contents Right at the back of the book. I browsed a bit to see what recipes were available and after seeing "Warm Walnut and Lentil Salad," "Vietnamese Rice Paper Rolls," or "Two Kinds of Cookies with Vanilla Ice Cream," I was so hungry that I went to eat. 😉 When I got back, I continued working on the book and designing the individual recipes. Here too: Clear layouts, one page for each recipe with Pictures of the dishes and individual preparation steps. Of course, clear ingredient lists are included with every recipe – everything you need to recreate the recipes from professional chefs. (Don't be disappointed if your results don't look like the photos; nobody expects that, otherwise we'd all be professional chefs. ;-)).

Recipe presentation

So…that's the most important thing. The book can be purchased for a reasonable €25 directly from the… Website of the Tre Torri publishing house. If you buy this book, you'll also be holding a work that has only been available for purchase for a few days (October 14, 2016). Therefore, it's also a ideal gift, If you have any friends who are fans of professional chefs, I'd recommend checking out this book, as it seems not many have bought it themselves yet. It's bound in a sturdy hardcover, quite heavy (it fell on my toe – it still hurts…) and really fun to cook from! …So….joking aside…who's going to make me the Allgäu-style cheese spaetzle from page 157 – I'm injured, after all!?

This is embarrassing and not a proper book review. If you own the first three volumes (like me), you naturally want to know more about the contents of this one. How much is new in this book – how many recipes are repeated, etc.

    Hello Jürgen,
They are strict, though. I would have gladly answered politely if you had simply asked me nicely for some information you felt was missing. 🙂 The recipes do repeat themselves, yes – it's practically a "best of" compilation. Best regards
