The manu. – Discover the wine bar and restaurant
The manu. wine bar and restaurant is located in the popular Gärtnerplatz district – known for its countless top restaurants and therefore the perfect home for this trendy venue. As you walk towards the manu., you'll see the terrace along the facade during the warmer months, furnished with tables and elegant chairs – occupied by happy people enjoying wine and delicious food.
The wine bar and restaurant manu. is run by the experienced and passionate restaurateur Tamás Farkas and his team. You can expect warm and professional service at your table and rely completely on their wine expertise. It's clear the team is passionate about what they do and approaches everything – from the presentation and demonstration of the food and drinks – with genuine enthusiasm. Combined with excellent cuisine and perfectly paired wines, manu. – wine bar and restaurant – is a must for all connoisseurs and gourmet foodies.

Vegetarian and really good: potato, artichoke and parsley, complemented by pineapple espuma.
Upon entering and receiving a friendly greeting, you'll be shown to your table (which must be reserved in advance) and presented with the menu, which changes every three to four weeks. The menu is intentionally concise, featuring three to five options in each of the categories: "Bar Snacks," "Starter/Intermezzo," "Main Course," and "Cheese/Dessert." You can then choose to enjoy individual courses à la carte, create your own menu from these options, or treat yourself to a fantastic surprise menu prepared by the manu. kitchen team. Whichever you choose, you can look forward to fresh cuisine and an optional superb wine pairing to complement your selection.
The cooking is done by the young 28-year-old chef Stefan Retzer, who has already made a name for himself in Michelin-starred restaurants. The natural flavor of the main ingredients used, which are also listed on the menu, is the focus of every dish. Combined with the chic yet cozy atmosphere, the relaxed ambiance, and the harmonious selection of food and drinks, your visit to manu. is sure to be a wonderful culinary experience.

Food and drink at the manu. – wine bar and restaurant
I can't say it often enough: there are few things in life that bring as much joy as going out for a good meal. Manu. confirmed this for me once again during our visit. From the friendly welcome right on the terrace, to the warm and competent service at our table, to the exquisite dishes paired with fantastic wines – simply superb all around. Due to the terrace being full and the high temperatures, we sat at a window table inside the cozy wine bar and let the culinary experience guide us through the evening. We enjoyed five courses, with each course featuring different dishes from the menu.
We started with fresh bread and homemade quark butter, a delicious start which, combined with olives, can also be found on the bar menu. Before the first course, we enjoyed a glass of sparkling wine from the Palatinate region: Blanc et Noir, Brut Nature from the Scheuermann winery, with a pleasant effervescence, ideal for hot days.
Our meal then began. The first course surprised us with an Irish oyster, served with gherkin and fried onion, which, in addition to its typical flavor, impressed us with its refinement and unique taste profile. This was accompanied by an equally flavorful gazpacho with a delicate prawn as a garnish – a promising start when paired with the German sparkling wine. Next up was the familiar and, in my opinion, very enjoyable juicy Riesling from the Dreissigacker winery. It's no wonder that this Riesling, with its well-integrated acidity, is considered the winery's flagship wine, as it perfectly reflects the top quality of Dreissigacker wines and highlights the fruitiness. Combined with the appetizers – tartare with plum, millet, and chanterelle mushrooms, as well as tuna with kimizu (Japanese sauce) and cucumber kimchi – it was a perfect match. Throughout the entire evening, I particularly enjoyed the excellent presentation of each course.
Afterwards, we both enjoyed the vegetarian main course from the menu: potato, artichoke, and parsley, complemented by pineapple espuma prepared directly at the table. In our glasses, we had a golden-yellow 2022 orange wine from the Judith Beck winery: "Koreaa" – exotic in taste, slightly mineral, beautifully fresh, and wonderfully harmonious with the vegetarian dish.
Afterwards, miso caramel was served as a refreshing and neutralizing intermezzo. I personally love the combination of salty and sweet, as well as the way it resets the taste buds between courses.
For the meaty main course, we switched to red wine and were served a 2019 "Cuvée Or" from Chateau Ollieux Romanis. A formidable red wine with great complexity, beautifully spicy and surprisingly intricate, and a perfect match for our beef with sweet potato, blueberry, and broccoli. To conclude, we enjoyed two exceptional dessert wines, as we both agreed: "Wahre Werte" from the Weixelbaum winery (Sauvignon Blanc Auslese) and a "Quinta do Infantado, Porto Ruby Reserva"—a top-quality organic Porto from an exclusive small-scale production, very smooth and inviting. We were also served both desserts from the menu: "Raspberry, dill, yogurt, and granola" and "Cherry, financier, and sweet pesto," which we happily shared and swapped—delicious! Alternatively, mountain cheeses such as Blauberger and Merano are available.

One of our favorite dishes of the evening: beef with sweet potato, blueberry, and broccoli. Served in a glass.
Conclusion: Manu. is definitely one of those restaurants I would wholeheartedly recommend you and your loved ones to. The service is incredibly warm and professional; the cuisine is fresh and exceptional, and the wines are simply perfect, whether enjoyed individually or as part of a tasting menu. This is the place to be if you want to enjoy a glass of wine, a fantastic menu, and delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere.
