Since I've been bedridden for several weeks and still can't be very active, I recently ordered a meal from the Schwabing restaurant "„Cuisine and Culture“"Home. The restaurant on Leopoldstrasse serves classic Italian cuisine in the form of antipasti, soups, pizzas, pasta, salads, desserts, and more. I'd never actually eaten there in person before, but I caught their eye while browsing the foodora restaurants that deliver to my postal code area. After clicking through the Cucina e Cultura menu on the foodora website, I decided on "Costata di Manzo grigliata"—a grilled sirloin steak with seasonal vegetables and rosemary potatoes (for €16.50)—and a small "Insalata Mista," a mixed salad (for €3.20). My order totaled just over €20, and foodora promised delivery within 30 minutes. Of course, a reduced menu is offered online depending on availability, as they can't always deliver every single dish from the restaurant.".

Food quality

The online ordering process on the foodora website was simple and straightforward; payment is via PayPal, and there's no delivery fee. My food was indeed delivered quickly, handed over in a friendly manner, and well-packaged. Less impressive, though this isn't foodora's fault, was the meat. Unfortunately, the steak was rather tough, difficult to cut or bite, and only moderately enjoyable. A shame, as I had been really looking forward to a good piece of meat. The vegetables and potatoes were better, though of course not the main focus. I deliberately chose something from the menu that requires a bit of skill in preparation (sirloin steak) and isn't classically Italian – anyone can deliver pasta. 😉 Of course, delivering meat across town and serving it with the same quality as a waiter bringing it from the kitchen five meters away isn't easy, but certainly doable. The small salad, on the other hand, was fresh and satisfactory. Everything arrived hot and attractively packaged. While my order didn't consist of various sauces, soups, and liquids, I still experienced this: In my early days of testing foodora and similar services, I frequently encountered situations where food wasn't packaged properly and leaked. This was definitely not the case here. A clear improvement in this regard. Perhaps the potatoes and vegetables could have been packaged separately.

My conclusion – foodora put to the test

In my own test, foodora worked perfectly. They kept their delivery time promise, the platform is easy to use, and it offers a wide selection of restaurants. Depending on your postal code, there's practically nothing you can't order for home delivery. Now, in the cold winter months, there are far more reasons to stay home than in the summer, for example. That's why foodora and food delivery from your favorite restaurant to your warm sofa is a great alternative. Feel free to tip the drivers at the door if everything arrives on time (and warm). After all, they've braved the (soon-to-be) snow, wind, and cold for you. I can recommend giving foodora a try. I'm not specifically recommending this restaurant based on the meat, of course, but I'll be back in person for a pizza or a steak and will report back. Enjoy your meal, and thanks to foodora.
