HARLACHINGER JAGDSCHLÖSSL – Harlaching – Bavarian

+++ Advertisement: This post was created in cooperation with the Harlaching Hunting Lodge. Thank you! +++

Admittedly, today I might be a tiny bit biased for the first time while writing about a restaurant, although in this case, it's certainly justified. I've rarely eaten at a restaurant as often, as frequently, and as excellently as at the Harlachinger Jagdschlössl. Those who have followed my website for a while know that I never miss an opportunity to mention it as one of my favorite restaurants for authentic Bavarian cuisine in Munich, or to recommend it to others. But let's start from the beginning 🙂 …

The Harlachinger Jagdschlössl is a restaurant located in the south of Munich near the Isar meadows, which opened in June 2011 after almost two years of renovations. Since then, it has impressed diners with Bavarian cuisine, fresh salads, hearty snacks, steaks from the lava stone grill, delicious game dishes, and much more. Without exaggeration, I've dined here around 80 times for various occasions with colleagues, friends, clients, and acquaintances. I've enjoyed breakfast several times in the comfortably shaded outdoor area, savored a delicious Kaiserschmarrn countless times in the inviting dining room, and often stopped by in the evening after a long, stressful day for a refreshing Hugo cocktail and a fine meal to unwind.

The menus at the Harlachinger Jagdschlössl in Munich
Breakfast at the Harlachinger Jagdschlössl is served on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and on Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Delicious breakfasts await you – from the traditional Bavarian white sausage breakfast (for €4.90) to a variety of breakfast combinations, such as the "Ticino Cheese Breakfast" with three types of cheese, homemade apricot confit, a small Bircher muesli, butter and jam, fresh fruit, and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice for €10.90, to breakfasts you can create your own. They even offer a small "breakfast Kaiserschmarrn" for €6.90, which I've ordered several times, along with Bircher muesli, Obatzda (Bavarian cheese spread), and other similar items.

In addition to the regular menu, there's also a daily specials menu, which you can view online. You'll find delicacies like sliced chicken breast with a creamy mushroom sauce on buttered rice, or spaghetti Bolognese with flavorful ground beef and fresh Parmesan, both for €8.50. There's also the weekly lunch special: schnitzel with cranberries and fries for €9.50. The menu changes weekly, and from Monday to Friday, you can enjoy delicious dishes at fair prices. The standard menu also changes regularly, but of course, it includes all the classics. These include delicious Bavarian appetizers and snacks (between €5.50 and €15.50), various soups and salads (between €5.80 and €15.50), as well as fish and meat dishes (from €8.90 to €21.90). Take a look! here the entire map itself.

What you absolutely must try is the pike-perch fillet with mushroom and spinach, served with lightly browned rissole potatoes (€19.50), which I've ordered countless times. It's divine! Another dish you absolutely shouldn't miss – perhaps right after the pike-perch 😉 – is the caramelized Kaiserschmarrn with homemade plum compote or fruity-sweet applesauce (from €4.50 for a dessert portion). Those who know me know that, due to the sheer number of Kaiserschmarrn I've tried, I've become quite discerning when it comes to the preparation, taste, and appearance of this popular (originally Austrian, but with a very Bavarian twist) dessert. Here at the Harlachinger Jagdschlössl, it's top-notch, so "too full for dessert!" isn't an issue here. 🙂 And I could go on like this with practically every dish on the menu. The food is always delicious, and even salads, which are often difficult to make "special," are always served with that certain something at the Harlachinger Jagdschlössl. Take, for example, the Shepherd's Salad for €14.50 – a colorful mixed salad with grilled goat cheese, drizzled with honey in a tangy alpine herb dressing, and served with crispy leek and cheese crostini – simply divine! The friendly manager Joachim Bauer's statement ("My passion is to make simple things even better!") fits perfectly, and I can only say: a complete success!

The different rooms of the Harlaching hunting lodge
I'd also like to elaborate a bit on the individual rooms of the Harlachinger Jagdschlössl: The restaurant boasts three uniquely designed dining rooms and a beautifully landscaped beer garden. Including the beer garden, the entire restaurant can accommodate approximately 420 people. The restaurant's new building forms the heart of the establishment, seating 120 people and featuring a bar and two self-service beer taps. Here you'll find a truly welcoming atmosphere with a modern Bavarian touch: plenty of wood, comfortable high and low tables, tastefully coordinated decorations, cozy lighting, and an all-around harmonious ambiance. I usually sit in this room, as I always feel at ease here and can watch the lively scene of satisfied guests and friendly waiters bringing delicious food. This room is ideal for groups of two to approximately 18 people. Directly opposite is the vaulted cellar, which is also the largest (and available for private hire) private room. I ate here about two or three times because I couldn't get a table in the restaurant area. The large arched windows and the working fireplace dating back to the 19th century immediately catch the eye. The atmosphere here is also very cozy and pleasant, and if you're looking for the perfect location for events with 12 to about 65 people, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Harlaching Hunting Lodge vaulted cellar. The third room, the "Sissi Room," is a true dream. It has a completely different ambiance, and I was absolutely amazed by the room's atmosphere and stunning appearance. Elaborately crafted wood paneling and painstakingly handcrafted details create a unique and inviting atmosphere. This is the perfect place for private celebrations and gatherings with a special touch for 15 to about 45 people. Be sure to check out the rooms when you're here; you'll definitely feel like celebrating, lingering, and feasting here.

Events at the Harlaching Hunting Lodge: Celebrations, meetings, get-togethers
The Harlachinger Jagdschlössl is also happy to cater to your wedding, birthday, party, or business meeting. Thanks to its diverse rooms, the restaurant offers the perfect ambiance for almost any occasion. Whether you're hosting a lively gathering of 10 to 100 people, or a more formal celebration or larger business event, the restaurant is ideal. You can discuss the terms, seating arrangements, and, of course, completely customized menu options with the friendly team. And if you simply want to enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner with a colleague or friend, the Harlachinger Jagdschlössl can truly do it all. 😉

Parking by car is usually no problem; the restaurant has seven parking spaces in its courtyard. Alternatively, tram lines 15 and 25, as well as bus line 139 (Harlaching Hospital stop), will take you directly to the restaurant. The Harlachinger Jagdschlössl is, of course, always happy to welcome walk-ins whenever possible. I strongly recommend making a reservation (phone: +49 89 30 90 67 60), as you will generally have to wait longer for a table due to the restaurant's popularity. If you do decide to drop by spontaneously, the team will, of course, do their best to find you a table, but reservations are advisable, especially on weekends. A quick call also helps the friendly team at the Harlachinger Jagdschlössl plan better and seat you directly at your reserved table.

Conclusion: A true must-see
All in all, there's absolutely nothing to complain about here: We've never once had to wait longer than 10 to a maximum of 20 minutes for the food – always attractively presented, served at the perfect temperature, and at the same time – even when the restaurant was completely full. The food always tasted fantastic, and the service was consistently friendly and efficient. As soon as you're seated, you're presented with the menus and, after a quick glance, immediately asked about your drink (and food) preferences. I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit to the Harlachinger Jagdschlössl to you and all fans of Bavarian cuisine. What's more, if you haven't been a fan of Bavarian food so far, come and experience it here, and from that moment on, your heart will surely beat a little more Bavarian – at least culinarily speaking. And even though I've probably piqued your interest enough by now: When you're here, you absolutely must try the Kasspatzen (cheese spaetzle). Sooo delicious! Take a look at the photos – you'll recognize them immediately, and a picture is worth a thousand words! Perhaps we'll see each other soon at the Harlaching hunting lodge!

It's open daily from 10:00 AM to midnight. You can, of course, pay by card here.

I'll be back: For Bavarian perfection at its finest, definitely! 🙂
