50 Years of Hotel Erb in Parsdorf | The heart of Parsdorf with grill restaurant and spa – About seven months ago, I told you this Hotel Erb in Parsdorf I was introduced. Shortly after, I visited the integrated Almgrill restaurant, and now there's more good news to report. The Parsdorf hotel is celebrating its 50th anniversary. For half a century, it's been: Hotel Erb in Parsdorf – stay, relax, eat, enjoy.

Anniversary – 1968 to 2018: A look back at the year 1968

Hotel Erb stands for quality and a commitment to tradition, something guests quickly notice. For 50 years now, the rooms, the restaurant, the relatively new spa area, and the services have always been state-of-the-art. We all know that life is becoming increasingly fast-paced, and when you look back at the early days – for example, due to an upcoming anniversary like this one – there's always something to smile about. The Erb family, who run the hotel, have taken a closer look at the founding year of 1968 and compiled some amusing facts. Not only was the hotel, which has been successful for 50 years, built in 1968, but the statutory value-added tax was also introduced and set at 101,030 DM. Also hard to imagine today: the average citizen's income in Germany at that time was 657 DM, and the unemployment rate was 1.51,030 DM. They filled up with diesel at 58 pfennigs per liter, and it stings a little to remember that a liter of beer cost 2.40 marks 50 years ago. There are many milestones in the history of the Erb family's hotel business.

A hotel like this doesn't just fall from the sky; it grows, evolves, and improves. It all started in 1968 when Jakob Erb built the then-new "Hotel Garni J. Erb" with 20 rooms for his daughter, Rosa Maria Erb. It opened in August 1968, coinciding with her 28th birthday. In 1988, a second hotel with 30 rooms was added in the industrial park on Posthalterring – the current main hotel. Ten years later, Rosa Maria Erb's son, Christian Erb, joined the family business. In 1999 and 2000, the main hotel was expanded by 48 rooms, a lobby, and a wellness area. Since 2002, Hotel Erb has been part of the Best Western hotel group. Since then, the hotel has continued to expand, add on new buildings, redesign, and develop. Today, in 2018, the hotel – even for me personally – is not only very modern and attractively designed, but also home to a truly wonderful "Munich countryside gem" – the Almgrill restaurant. This also includes hospitality and good management, which you can experience, for example, when you eat in the fantastic grill restaurant.

Today, the 4-star Hotel Erb employs 54 people, has 125 rooms, and since the beginning of 2018 also features the aforementioned Almgrill restaurant with 100 seats inside and 60 seats in the beautiful terrace garden. The real gem for relaxation, however, is undoubtedly the ALMDORF spa with its aroma steam bath, Finnish log sauna, herbal sauna, Swiss pine bio sauna, brine sauna with salt inhalation, and a relaxation room. (Also open to non-hotel guests!) Athletes will find plenty to enjoy in the well-equipped fitness room. Stop by for a wellness day or a delicious steak from the Josper grill. Also legendary: The Almgrill Kaiserschmarrn.
