Divided into different categories

Oktoberfest Cookbook The 2015 Oktoberfest is in full swing, and of course, it's not just the world's largest and most famous folk festival itself that's attracting visitors with its many attractions, culinary delights, and plenty of good beer, but there's also a lot going on around it – all about the Wiesn (Oktoberfest). So I simply couldn't pass up the "Oktoberfest Cookbook" by Julia Skowronek, which you can buy now – just in time for the Oktoberfest season – and thus treat yourself to all kinds of delicious dishes at home and recreate them yourself.

The book cover

The Oktoberfest is known worldwide, and in large parts of America and Asia, people still believe that we Germans wear traditional Bavarian clothing all year round and that everything is blue and white. However, it's equally well known that no other festival is as renowned for its enjoyment and culinary delights of all kinds as our beautiful Oktoberfest, because the range of Bavarian specialties is enormous. To give you a better understanding of Oktoberfest traditions (how to order in Bavarian, where to tie your dirndl bow, what the Bavarian Purity Law is, etc.), you'll find numerous humorous yet informative tips, explanations, information, and more here.

With its stylish design and numerous color photos (around 80!), this Oktoberfest cookbook is the perfect resource for all your favorite specialties – from Brotzeitbrettl (a traditional Bavarian snack platter) and pretzels to roast chicken, candied apples, gingerbread hearts, and Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake). Vegetarians will also find plenty to enjoy in this cookbook dedicated to the Oktoberfest: dumplings with creamed mushrooms, coleslaw, fresh waffles, and more. The author, J. Skowronek, is a true Oktoberfest expert, working as a chef, food stylist, and author, and has also served as a waitress at the Oktoberfest for 20 years – you couldn't ask for more expertise for an Oktoberfest cookbook. And if you're wondering, "What would a Japanese, French, or American need a German cookbook for?" – no problem, because this 144-page cookbook is also available in English.

Clearly laid-out recipes

Once Oktoberfest is over, I'll find someone with a bit more talent in the kitchen and cook me some Bavarian delicacies. The Kaiserschmarrn recipe looks pretty good, as do all the recipes, actually. They're clearly explained, with simple steps, and each one even comes with a color picture.

You can get the book "Oktoberfest Cookbook" for example. here (contains advertising links) Buy it for a fair €16.95. Ideal for all Oktoberfest fans, all lovers of Bavarian cuisine, and anyone who finds the time until the next Oktoberfest always too long. If you still haven't had enough, the same author also has the "Beer Garden Cookbook" with great recipes, pictures, and information.
