Discover the Stachus Passages at Karlsplatz – Up to 300,000 people visit the Stachus Passagen on a typical day. Opened almost ten years ago (in May 2011), the Stachus Passagen welcomes visitors with approximately 60 shops spread across nearly 8,000 square meters in the heart of Munich, at Karlsplatz (Stachus). The Stachus Passagen are not only considered Europe's largest underground shopping center, but are also one of my favorite spots when I'm in the mood for relaxed shopping, good food, leisurely browsing – always in the dry – and a diverse and multifaceted city experience. It's worth taking a closer look at the Stachus Passagen, which is probably familiar to every Munich resident, and getting to know them better.

Where do you like to eat and shop in the Stachus Passages?

My connection to the Stachus Passages
Why am I telling you about the Stachus Passages, and why now? – Quite simply, for many years, almost every visit to Munich's city center has either started at the Stachus Passages or ended there as the perfect ending to my shopping trip. Even when my appointments and errands in the city weren't right near Karlsplatz, no distance was too far for a detour to the Stachus Passages.

Always worth a visit: Läderach in the Stachus Passages

I enjoy the feeling of walking through the attractively and stylishly designed arcades, browsing through the diverse shops, and have satisfied my hunger and indulged in delicious food there countless times. I continually appreciate the advantage of the shops and restaurants located close together. I like it when short distances contribute to a convenient and relaxed shopping experience, while still offering plenty of variety. That's how I experience the Stachus Arcades.

Even now, in these very challenging times for all of us, the Stachus Passages still offer many places worth visiting when your stomach is rumbling and hunger is calling. Many shops and mostly restaurants are open and just waiting for you to come by. Since I believe that "support your locals" is more important than ever, I encourage you to stop by next time you're craving something good, eat there, and see for yourself.

There's plenty on offer, and it's well worth taking a leisurely stroll through the arcades – even now. When it comes to food and drink, you can look forward to a diverse selection. From individually topped pretzels at Brezelina and feel-good food from myindigo, to fresh bread from Rischart or Hofpfisterei, high-quality chocolates and pralines from Läderach or Lindt, and on to fries and currywurst (Pommes Freunde), Thai food (Kaimug), dumplings (LeDu), burritos (pureburrito), or sushi (Sushi Express), there are no limits to your cravings. Fresh coffee from Starbucks, delicious baked goods and pastries from Brioche Dorée, and Bavarian butcher snacks from vinzenzmurr are also currently available to go in the arcades. The Edeka supermarket located within the arcades, as well as the Vitalia health food store, are also open, so you can do your shopping there at your leisure. Fans of healthy salads and wraps can look forward to seeing dean & david on site. Oh yes, and of course, there's nothing wrong with a frozen yogurt from Frogis either.

And where have you all been so far? I'm already familiar with Brezelina's delicious pretzels and warm mashed potatoes with individual toppings; dean & david's tasty bowls and salads; and Rischart's fine baked goods – I absolutely melt at the sight of their delicious cakes and sweet pastries. A quick stop at vinzenzmurr for a crispy Leberkäse roll, or browsing the shelves at Läderach, are also regular rituals of mine when I'm in the Stachus Passages. There's still so much for me to discover, and I'm really looking forward to it.
