Restaurant Steinsee | New menu for the start of the bathing season – It's probably already known that I really like the Steinsee restaurant and that it's become one of my regular go-to places for good food in the Munich area. Both through the restaurant itself, as well as about the past spring market I've already told you about this. Now there's more news you shouldn't miss. It's about the completely revamped menu at Restaurant Steinsee. And – hooray! – it coincides with the start of the swimming season. Why is this relevant? Well, because the restaurant is located right on the beautiful and idyllic lake.
This means: indulging in delicious food at the restaurant, swimming and relaxing in the lake with its adjacent beach area. As mentioned in previous articles: 100% potential for a short getaway. Just 25 minutes from Munich, you can quickly reach this little paradise in Niederseeon by car. What awaits you there? Plenty!
Restaurant Steinsee – The new menu
The completely new menu will be available from mid-May, coinciding with the start of the bathing season. It features a wide variety of culinary delights. The menu's motto is immediately apparent: "Steinsee – Steak & More | Grill | Restaurant | Café | Beach." Right from the first page, it invites you to use the Steinsee location for private or business celebrations. And that's a really good suggestion. Even before glancing at the menu, the location alone is enough to make you want to be there. Whether it's a birthday, wedding, party, conference, or other event – the restaurant, complete with a panoramic hall, separate outdoor area, beach with bar, lounge, and grill area, offers the perfect setting for every occasion. So, if you're looking for a lakeside venue near Munich for your next celebration, look no further. But even just for a relaxing meal, the trip is well worth it.
Now, let's move on to page two and the food. All the dishes reflect the restaurant's philosophy: "From Bavaria to the sea, always with a deep connection to the product." Most of the ingredients have their roots in Bavaria. The vegetables, for example, come from a farmer in Glonn who uses particularly gentle cultivation methods. At Restaurant Steinsee, these vegetables are used to create delicious appetizers (from €6.50), soups (from €4.50), and salads (from €4.50). Every Friday, they offer a delicious fish soup (from €8.50) made with fish stock, saffron, chili, seafood, fish, tomatoes, vegetables, and toasted garlic bread. Among the appetizers, you might find buffalo mozzarella and tomato (€9.80) or an appetizer platter with salmon, Parma ham, salsiccia, and other delicacies (€12.50).
Steaks and burgers
The centerpiece of the menu at Restaurant Steinsee is its grilled specialties – prepared on a 400-degree lava stone grill. They use their own salt and pepper blend, herb butter, and a selection of BBQ sauces. The perfect taste experience. You can choose your preferred doneness (rare/rare, medium/pink, or well-done); otherwise, it will be served medium. They offer grilled beef, pork, turkey, and fish, as well as delicious burgers. The meat for the sirloin, rump, and fillet steaks, as well as Chateaubriand and veal sirloin, comes from Simmental cattle, the most widely bred cattle breed in Bavaria. Originating in Simmenthal in the Bernese Oberland, this breed offers the best quality meat Bavaria has to offer. A 150-gram sirloin steak is €10.50, a fillet steak €16.50, and a 180-gram veal sirloin is €16.90. All steaks come with a choice of various side dishes. These include baked potato, (truffled) fries, baby potatoes, rice, garlic bread, salad, vegetables, (gluten-free) pasta, etc. (from €3). Sauces are also optional: pepper, rosemary, or cream sauce, as well as herb butter from €1.50.
The various "Steinsee Burgers" are also available with fish, meat, or in a vegetarian option, starting at €9.90. For example, the "Black Angus Burger" comes with a sesame seed bun, Black Angus beef, burger sauce, tomatoes, onions, pickle, lettuce, and fries (€12.80). The hornless Black Angus cattle breed originated in the Scottish county of [County Name Missing] and was initially bred there. For several years now, it has also been bred here in beautiful Bavaria. You can try it at the Steinsee restaurant.
Vegetarian delicacies and gluten-free pasta
If meat isn't your thing, simply choose from the other categories. Classics like grilled goat cheese, vegetarian curry, vegetable fritters, or various pasta dishes are available. A particular highlight: gluten-free pasta is still on the menu, and vegetarians are also catered to with a wide range of dishes. I'm sure you're already curious about the full menu, right? I can only say: a visit is worthwhile. Absolutely. Even if you're already full or just fancy a slice of fresh cake. The location alone is reason enough to make the trip, and once you have the new menu in your hands, your appetite will come naturally. They also offer Kaiserschmarrn with almond slivers and applesauce (for €9.50) or crème brûlée (for €5.50).
I highly recommend planning a visit to Steinsee for the next sunny day. Pack your swimsuit, your favorite book, and a good appetite. You'll have a fantastic day – especially when it comes to food. Great article, it reminded me of Steinsee again. We used to go there all the time in our mid to late twenties.
