The spring FOOD & LIFE was a complete success; all the more reason to celebrate that from November 29 to December 3, 2023, it's time once again for "FOOD & LIFE" at the Munich Exhibition Center!

Halls A4 and A5 will once again be transformed into a true gourmet paradise for five full days. Numerous exhibitors will present their innovative products, reflecting the latest food trends. FOOD & LIFE Trade Fair 2023 – the autumn edition from November 29th to December 3rd, 2023

One of the best things about every "FOOD & LIFE" fair for me is that it's never boring, and after visiting, you're definitely up-to-date on all the latest food trends. The offerings from the 200 exhibitors are always a diverse mix, presented in an entertaining and appealing way with a variety of program highlights.

This year's second "FOOD & LIFE" trade fair promises a variety of highlights and a fantastic program. The fair will once again be opened by the Bavarian Minister of Agriculture, Michaela Kaniber, when it's finally time for five days of "FOOD & LIFE" and "pure enjoyment" (opening on November 29th at 10:00 a.m. in Hall A4.368). Let's take a look at the exhibitors, guests, and special features of the program.

The trade fair cooking stage in Hall A4

The cooking stage at "FOOD & LIFE" is consistently one of THE highlights of the trade fair. Look forward to exciting cooking shows with luminaries such as Maître Patissier Matthias Mittermeier, Michelin-starred chef Franz Keller, and Kitchen Impossible chef Graciela Cucchiara, as well as numerous other stage highlights where you can learn something new for your own kitchen from a wide variety of areas.

Cooking show „(Star) Cuisine without Borders“ – African delights with Franz Keller (Kitchen without Borders eV) on the cooking stage of FOOD & LIFE 2023.

World-renowned master patisserie and chocolate artist Matthias Mittermeier will delight you with floating tarts and hot chocolate, exploding popcorn, and a chocolate cake that's ready in just one minute. Look forward to insider tips from molecular gastronomy and tricks that are easy to recreate in your own kitchen. Graciela Cucchiara will introduce you to Italian cuisine and show you how to cook delicious Italian dishes at home, sharing helpful tips along the way.

The stage takes on an international flair when Michelin-starred chef Franz Keller, chairman of the gastronomic aid and peace organization "Kitchen Without Borders," Antje de Vries, and Robert Ahiaghba perform (on Wednesday, November 29; Thursday, November 30; and Sunday, December 3). These three chefs share one thing in common: a curiosity about foreign cultures and a great joy in reaching and connecting people through food. Don't miss these shows on the culinary stage!.

The winning start-ups of the „Newcomer Award“ of „FOOD & LIFE“ 2023 (Spring)

Fans of vegetarian cuisine can look forward to a "Veggi Cooking Show" on November 29th at 12:00 PM; at 2:30 PM there will be baking with Grandpa Günter, and afterwards (at 3:30 PM) the popular Start-up „Djoon“, Learn how their naturally sweet date pralines are made. The cooking stage will also feature presentations and demonstrations of non-alcoholic aperitifs (November 29th at 4:30 pm), African cuisine (November 30th at 1:15 pm), and much more. Latest food trends at the FOOD START.up Area

During my visits to "FOOD & LIFE," I often spend most of my time in the FOOD START.up Area of the trade fair. This year, numerous young companies are once again showcasing what's happening in the food industry and what new trends and products are waiting to be discovered. Look forward to 24 different newcomers presenting their innovative ideas from the food scene. At the stands, you can not only sample the products but also ask the founders all your questions directly. Among the offerings are a Bavarian honey gin, low-fat vacuum-fried pumpkin chips, and pasta made from sweet potatoes and beans.

On the third day of the trade fair – Friday, December 1st, at 3:30 p.m. in Hall A4 – the "Foodchangers 2023" will be selected by a jury of experts as part of the newly introduced Start-up Award. Fantastic prizes await the young companies. The jury members include Selda Morina from the REWE Süd Startup Lounge, start-up advisor Nikola Nikolic (Stadtsparkasse München), editor and gourmet food expert Regine Hemme (Lust auf Genuss), food photographer Caroline Martin, Christine Purnell from StartinFOOD, and celebrity restaurateurs Graciela Cucchiara and Matthias Mittermeier, known from the TV shows "Kitchen Impossible" and "Allererste Sahne." So be sure to set aside plenty of time to explore the start-ups and their new products – it's well worth it!

Further trade fair highlights of the „FOOD & LIFE“ autumn edition

There is much to discover at the "FOOD & LIFE"! For example, at the stand of the Bavarian Ministry of Agriculture, where, under the motto "Bavarian Moments of Pleasure", you will be presented with purely handcrafted delicacies from the region and informed about the advantages of these products originating from one's own homeland.

Things will also get exciting with the new food trucks presented at the fair, which will provide you with a wide variety of delicious treats and will also be out on the streets outside of the fair. Look forward to Venezuelan street food paired with a refreshing Aperol Spritz, or hot chocolate with Dutch poffertjes straight from the truck.

At "FOOD & LIFE" you will also learn what makes truly good chocolate and, among other things, the Pastry chef Kerstin Spehr – owner of her own Munich chocolate school in Neuhausen – as your questions about the world of the cocoa bean. Of course, you can also taste and buy their homemade pralines and chocolates directly at the fair. In addition, there are fine destress pralines for the chocolate junkies among you (from notasweet), cream truffles and other pralines (from Germany Delicatessen), hot chocolate specialties (from El Gusto) and cool cocoa confectionery (from Goufrais).

Of course, you can also try many things directly….

Other exhibitors will provide you with Italian pinsa and pasta served from a Parmesan wheel, vegan döner or Leberkäse (a type of German meatloaf), as well as fine fish sandwiches and Polish sausage specialties. Right next to the aforementioned cooking stage at the "FOOD & LIFE" trade fair this autumn, there will also be a new café run by the social bakery "Kuchentratsch," inviting you to linger.
