The food start-ups of the FOOD & LIFE trade fair 2023 || I recently announced the second FOOD & LIFE trade fair for this year, which will take place in autumn from November 29th to December 3rd, 2023 at the Munich trade fair grounds. At every trade fair, I pay particular attention to the exhibiting startups that present their innovative products and food trends within the FOOD START.up Area. Since I can hardly wait for the fair to begin and am looking forward to strolling from stand to stand and discovering the latest highlights in the industry, I asked which startups will be there. Below is an overview of the food start-ups that await you during the five days of the trade fair, including a look at their exciting products.

A special one The highlight every year is the FOOD START-up Area., This event offers founders the unique opportunity to present their products to a large audience. You'll see that there are no limits to the ideas, and you can expect to find, for example, low-sugar chocolate bars and pralines; an energy drink that isn't really one; healthy vegetable chips; and much more.

New in the FOOD & LIFE Autumn Edition: the Foodchanger competition (#foodchanger2023 ), in which a panel of experts (For members, see first article.) selects the best startups for their products and awards fantastic prizes to the winners. The winning startups can look forward to specialized coaching tailored to the grocery retail sector, with the chance of product launches at REWE Süd, a funding check and a pitch listing for events, a feature in the magazine "Lust auf Genuss" (Craving Food), a quick consultation with the consulting agency StartinFOOD, and a photo shoot with food photographer Caroline Martin. If you'd rather be surprised "live on site" starting November 29th, you'd best not read any further. Because now they're coming, the... Food start-ups, the FOOD & LIFE Autumn Edition 2023. Each of the 22 exhibiting startups is bringing its own unique startup product to the trade fair. Let's go!

YAH THAI from Wolnzach presents Thai sweets, curry pastes and sausage specialties produced in Bavaria; at BEST FOODIES Healthy vegetable and pumpkin chips are available from Munich; MY MAKERY A company from Sindelfingen presents gluten-free baking mixes made from chestnut flour and HONEY HUTS From Baldham comes a great organic honey gin. A vegan "Happy Energy" praline is available from... NOTASWEET from Starnberg – definitely try it, I was absolutely thrilled when I tasted it! HONEYTISER From Bad Dürnberg (Austria) presents a refreshing drink made from blossom honey, elderflower and lemon, while the chutney fans among you will be delighted by the red wine and onion chutney from KOKUVIN You can look forward to seeing the offerings from Olching. Germany's first cookie with an intense coffee flavor, made from 100% Arabica coffee beans, can be found at the stand of [company name missing]. COFFEE SNACK From Quickborn – I've already had the chance to try it; the aroma alone when opening the package is a highlight for coffee lovers. Next up are gourmet sauces, handcrafted by the Berlin start-up. ECKART SAUCES as well as ready-to-drink bottled cocktails from Munich NEGRONI MANUFACTORY.

Be sure to try the dried fruits and nuts from Heynuts.

Mexican spirits made according to local recipes in the form of mezcals from agave bring LAEPOCA We brought something from Liechtenstein to the fair. You can find fine mead at... METAMORPHOSIS from Gröbenzell at the stand; functional drinks at MITO FUNCTIONAL NUTRITION from Munich. The founders of [company name] are also from Munich. MUNIG DISTILLERS, which bring with them a particularly fine award-winning gin.

You love granola bars but want to avoid sugar? – Head to the stand of THE OMNY COMPANY – OMNIBAR From Hausham! There you'll find 100 plant-based muesli bars with 70 less sugar – made from vegetables. Also participating is the Munich THE FIRST FLUSH DISTILLERY, which offers the world's only gin made with the finest silver needle tea – I've had the pleasure of trying it myself and can highly recommend it to any gin enthusiast. Are you into quinoa? – Head on over to... MUDDAR NATURE from Wölfersheim – there you can discover high-quality products made from German quinoa.

Sooo delicious and also available locally: carrot greens – the vegetarian mince mix in powder form

At CARROT GREENS CHOPPED MIXTURE You absolutely must try and buy it – you probably remember that I've already tasted and reported on this Munich-based start-up. It's a fantastic product that will surprise you with its plant-based mince powder for all kinds of "mince" products. GOOD AND BETTER / REOAT (from Berlin) on the other hand, has high-quality oat drink powder in his luggage – which has been my daily companion in the kitchen for some time now.

With the cool start-up HEYNUTS From Sauerlach, we're bringing you nuts 😉 – top-quality organic nuts and fruit mixes. FRUDIST from Osnabrück will spoil you with freeze-dried fruits – also exclusively of the best quality.

Also participating again is SQUEAKER DRINKS from Burghausen with their regional TAUBE Bavarian Dry Gin and GIMPEL Blood Orange Gin Liqueur. Also a must for spirits junkies.

Of course, you'll have the opportunity to try out the products at all the startups' booths, get to know them, and ask all your questions. Naturally, you can also buy the products on-site and take them home with you.

You can find delicious products made from German quinoa at Mudda Natur!

The trade fair takes place from Wednesday, November 29th to Sunday, December 3rd, 2023 in Halls A4 and A5 at the Munich Trade Fair Center (East Entrance). Simultaneously, the "Heim+Handwerk" trade fair awaits you in the directly adjacent halls – a fantastic fair that I also enjoy visiting every year, where I find inspiration for home decor, lifestyle, and crafts. The opening hours for the trade fairs are daily from 09:30 to 18:00.

Your TICKETS Tickets are available online for €15; on-site for €18, and for students, pensioners, and those eligible for a discounted ticket price of €9 (€12 on-site). Children up to 12 years old can enter the fair(s) for free. Those arriving after 3 pm can purchase an "afternoon ticket" online for €7 (€9 on-site).
