The GOP Variety Theatre on Maximilianstrasse
Off to the GOP Variety Theatre Munich! The first show of 2025: "SURPRISE!" || One of the things I was most looking forward to in 2025 was my first visit. in the popular Munich GOP Variety Theatre on Maximilianstrasse, as well as the brand new stage show „Surprise!„"From January 16th until March 9th, 2025, you can watch the first of a total of five shows and optionally combine it with a show menu or restaurant visit.".
What you can expect and what booking options are available will be explained in my first GOP article of the year. I will be attending every show again this year and will report back to you afterwards. One thing in advance: "SURPRISE!"„ It will bring you lots of laughs and, as the name suggests, surprises.

Start the new year with a laugh and the GOP Variety stage show „SURPRISE!“
Right from the first stage show of 2025, things get wild at the GOP Variety Theater in Munich, and you're guaranteed to have plenty of laughs. A top-class trio awaits you: the multi-talented Chantall, the universal genius Marco Noury, and the jack-of-all-trades Markus Schimpp will have you in stitches from the very beginning. Together with impressive, exceptional artists, they provide the perfect example of how acrobatic skill and masterful comedy can be combined to perfection. Look forward to talented performers who will captivate you with their acts, executed with the highest technical brilliance and poetic wit. It will be hilarious, funny, and surprisingly different as dry slapstick meets satire and genuine laugh-out-loud moments. My companion and I laughed heartily.

Book with hall or restaurant menu
You can decide whether you want to book only the show, or a) also the event beforehand. Theater-Restaurant „Leander”“"You can choose either a set menu with optional wine pairing, or b) enjoy the theater menu in two or three courses. The available options depend on the show time and day of the week; a menu with at least two courses can be booked for every performance, in which case the main course will be served before the show and dessert during the intermission. If you choose three courses in the theater, the appetizer will also be served before the show begins. You can find out which menu awaits you for "SURPRISE!" on the GOP website and in the graphic to the right.".
Personally, I love combining both – good food and plenty of entertainment with the current stage show. Ticket prices are €55 per person. You then choose your preferred menu option and pay an additional €23 or €29 per person for a two-course or three-course meal in the theater. If you prefer to enjoy your meal in a restaurant setting, meaning you only move to the theater after eating, there is an additional charge of €39 per person for three courses. Regardless of your chosen option, a snack menu with finger food and light meals is always available in the theater.
Depending on the day of the week, you can expect two or three courses in the hall menu.
My tip: Combine your visit to the GOP with one of their set menus. I always thoroughly enjoy the delicious dishes – which change and perfectly complement each show – and with each course, I get more and more excited for the show to follow. During each performance, you can also order various drinks (and snacks, if you like) and enjoy the show relaxed, satisfied, and full of anticipation. Vegan and vegetarian options are also available for the set menus.
Conclusion, tickets and table
We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit of 2025, laughed a lot, and were both delighted with the delicious menu. I highly recommend seeing the show – and by the way, feel free to dress up in formal evening attire. very straightforward ticket booking works via the Website of the GOP Varieté Theater Munich. Alternatively, you can book tickets by phone or directly at the GOP on Maximilianstrasse. Depending on which package you choose, you will receive the "Menu and Show" package available for under 80 euros per person. Enjoy the first, hilarious stage show "SURPRISE!". It's worth it, because you can never have too much laughter.

About the GOP Variety Theatre
Did you know? – There are seven GOP Variety Theatres in Germany. The one on Maximilianstrasse in Munich first opened its doors in 2008 and has since surprised audiences with an average of six diverse and entertaining stage shows per year. The theatre is divided into a spacious foyer, the main auditorium with its stage, the "Leander" restaurant, and a bar integrated into the foyer where drinks can be enjoyed before and after the shows.
