Manu's is a restaurant on Kreillerstraße in Berg am Laim. In the evening, the restaurant transforms into a cozy lounge for relaxing and enjoying a meal. Manu's Restaurant, Lounge, and Bar hasn't been open long, but it has enjoyed steadily growing popularity from the very beginning. Before Manuel Geier-Jurenic and his friendly service team created a new hotspot for young and old with "Manu's Restaurant," a shisha lounge and a Chinese restaurant had operated in the premises for many years. Since September 2013, the restaurant has impressed not only with its fantastic food, delicious drinks, and cool atmosphere, but also with its consistently personal and warm welcome – often from the owner, Manuel, himself – excellent service, and inviting ambiance. Admittedly, it's easy to miss the restaurant from the outside, as the relatively unassuming residential building doesn't exactly invite you in at first glance. Don't be put off, though, and come enjoy some of the best pizzas, pasta creations, and other dishes you could wish for.

Since my gym is right across the street, I'm a regular at Manuel's at least once a week, and even back then – as soon as I first noticed the new restaurant – I wanted to try the food, see how it tasted, and whether it was anything special. My verdict: It is! As mentioned, the restaurant is impressive across the board and also boasts an inviting summer terrace, a welcoming entrance area, and a cozy and stylish interior. The bright green lettering of "Manu's – Restaurant – Bar – Lounge" above the entrance attracts numerous guests. We entered, were greeted warmly by one of the three or four servers, and were very pleasantly surprised by our first impression of the place. What Manu's loses in charm and chic due to its somewhat challenging location on the long and "less frequented" Kreillerstraße, the restaurant definitely makes up for with its cozy, modern, and stylish interior: dark leather banquettes along the subtly lit walls throughout the dining area, some of which are finished in white brickwork; elegantly upholstered benches and chairs; high-gloss white lacquered tables; ceiling spotlights; flat screens on the walls; a ceiling with an indirect purple lighting border; a stylish bar—also illuminated in purple—made of dark wood and light brickwork, with white leather bar stools; a cozy lighting atmosphere; dark tiled floors; small glasses with tea lights on every table; and large white stones in silver wire baskets as decorative elements. The atmosphere at Manu's is not cluttered, chic, yet cozy. I enjoy coming here every week and immediately feel at home. It's easy to enjoy an extra cocktail, Hugo, or long drink here.

Just recently, we sat down again at one of the approximately 20 white tables. On our visits, well over half the tables are usually occupied, and on summer evenings, all the tables on the terrace are full. It's a popular spot for both young and old. A server brought us the extensive menu, and we chose our dinner from the numerous options. Manu's Restaurant offers a different special every day. For example, on Mondays, all pizzas are €6.50. Tuesdays are pasta day, and you can enjoy any pasta dish for €7.50. The prices at Manu's are perfectly reasonable, and if you come on their special offer days, it's practically unbeatable by Munich standards.

On one of our visits, we chose tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms and strips of beef, along with a salad with walnuts, scampi, and pears (for €12.50). Right after ordering drinks, we were served a generous bread basket filled with delicious bread. Since I was quite hungry after exercising, and the bread was so tasty, I ate the whole basket. 🙂 With each dish, you also receive a small bowl with three different types of salt, which I really appreciate, as a little good salt can certainly enhance the flavor of each dish, depending on your choice. You absolutely must try the Caesar salad, which we've already sampled, and my beloved wild salmon spanini with fresh arugula and cheese (for a reasonable €8.50) when you're there. We've never had to wait long for our food to arrive. The dishes have always been beautifully presented and the portions have always been just right. My personal recommendation, besides the panini with fresh salmon, is the truffle pizza for an absolutely unbeatable €6.50 on Mondays – otherwise €13.50. Where else can you find that? Take a look at the photo in the article. My companion is also very enthusiastic about the tuna pizza – regularly €12.50, but also an incredibly fair €6.50 on Mondays.

The service is always very friendly, and we often linger a little longer. On one of my visits, my companion ordered three more drinks, and I treated myself to a hot chocolate, which was made with milk, not water—unlike in many other places—and was absolutely delicious. We're always asked if we need anything else and if we're enjoying our food—so far, we haven't had a single complaint. For example, on one of our visits, we paid €42.50, which is perfectly reasonable for two main courses and numerous drinks. If you happen to come on a Monday, you can expect incredibly delicious pizzas for just €13 for two people. You have to try them!

The atmosphere at Manu's is definitely inviting. The owner is often there himself, personally and warmly greeting guests with a handshake and often joining them for a meal. As mentioned, the menu offers a very extensive selection, satisfying every appetite. In addition to pizzas and pastas, you'll also find a variety of salads, soups, and other delicious creations. You simply have to try it! Card payments are accepted at Manu's. Manu's is open from 5 pm. You can also enjoy a meal here on Sundays at fair prices. Have fun with delicious food, great drinks and cocktails, and a wonderful evening.
