Miss Lilly's I recently had breakfast at Miss Lilly's with a companion. A friend recommended the café to me – many thanks to this lovely person.
The café is located in the Au district of Munich and feels cozy, welcoming, and very bright as soon as you step inside. We particularly liked it because it's not yet in Munich's city center and therefore not too crowded, but still not far from the center for a subsequent city tour. From the outside, the restaurant/café isn't particularly inviting – apart from a purple sign above the white entrance door next to the numerous tables set up outside, there isn't much to see – but it's definitely worth a visit.
The café impresses with its striking, bright bar as the centerpiece – draped in light, ornate fabric, a cozy corner for sitting and relaxing with stacked wood in Bavarian style and numerous cushions, sturdy wooden tables, white leather benches and chairs, and stylish lamps both on the very high, stuccoed ceiling and on the windowsills of the tall windows. Overall, it's an incredibly cozy ambiance with a very friendly atmosphere. With approximately 20 tables, the restaurant isn't too crowded, and although the noise level is a bit higher due to the high ceilings, we felt very comfortable.
During our visit, we opted for two breakfasts, although Miss Lilly's also offers a variety of hot daily specials and an evening menu with interesting dishes starting at 6:30 pm. Upon entering, a friendly gentleman approached me; he had apparently also taken my reservation by phone that morning. (I would recommend doing the same!) We were allowed to choose a table and selected a cozy one for two with a view of the entire restaurant, the bar, and the aforementioned seating area where two female guests were comfortably seated, enjoying cake (from the elegant cake counter at the opposite end of the restaurant) and coffee drinks. Immediately after being seated, we received the double-sided A4 menus, which consist of only a front and a back cover. The drink menus were also presented to us. After looking at the menu and debating whether I should really choose breakfast over the fried goat cheese with honey, thyme, and roasted pine nuts (€12.90), I finally opted for the "Miss Lilly's Sporty Sister" breakfast with homemade muesli with yogurt and fruit, a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice (0.1l), herbed quark, vegetable sticks, jam and honey, cheese, and a boiled free-range egg, including a bread basket, for €11.50. My companion was also debating whether to order a hot main course (e.g., Wiener Schnitzel with fried potatoes and lingonberries for €16.90 or the Tagliatelle Arrabiata with fresh cherry tomatoes for €8.50) or breakfast. We also opted for breakfast: three scrambled eggs with three slices of rustic bread and butter for €4.60 (with a choice of ham, tomatoes, cheese, arugula, spring onions, or feta cheese for €0.90 each) and an additional muesli with fruit and milk for €4.80. Both breakfasts arrived relatively quickly. A couple who arrived at the next table after us were served before us, but since we were having a pleasant conversation and feeling comfortable, it was fine. Our waiter was also exceptionally friendly and helpful. Both breakfasts arrived almost simultaneously and were very tasty, despite the simple ingredients. The herbed quark in my "Sporty" breakfast was a bit too much for the three or four vegetable sticks I added, but otherwise, there was nothing to complain about. My egg was very hard-boiled, which I don't particularly like, but otherwise, it was a delicious and successful breakfast. My companion's scrambled eggs initially looked a bit sparsely portioned on the plate, but in the end, combined with the muesli and the very tasty, fresh bread, it was just about finished.
We can recommend both breakfasts we ordered. The couple mentioned above ordered a hot main course, which looked very appetizing. To drink, we chose a Diet Coke and a cappuccino. The cappuccino was warm and tasted fine. There was plenty of bread, though I left some cheese. Otherwise, you can take a look at the regular menu and the breakfast menu. here Take a look. Breakfasts range in price from €4.50 to €15, which is quite reasonable by Munich standards. Main courses such as appetizers, salads, soups, house specialties, and desserts range from €4.50 to €18.90 (for example, a 270g ribeye steak with tomato and coriander chutney, homemade sea salt and herb butter, and roasted potatoes).
I can highly recommend Miss Lilly's to anyone who enjoys delicious, simple cuisine in a cozy and very friendly atmosphere. As mentioned, the breakfasts were simple – but delicious. The café/restaurant is neither a bargain nor overpriced. We paid €30 by card for the two breakfasts and the aforementioned drinks, including tip – which is perfectly reasonable and entirely acceptable given the friendly service and pleasant atmosphere. I didn't get a good look at the cake display, but it looked fantastic from a distance, and the cake that the lady who sat next to us during our visit had looked very good. Apparently, Miss Lilly's New York Cheesecake is particularly popular and comes in various flavors. Coffee to go and French butter, vanilla, or hazelnut-nougat croissants are also available for eating in or taking away.
The service was impeccable. We received everything quickly, were asked if we enjoyed our meal, and a server was always readily available. If you're planning a celebration, Miss Lilly's will gladly assist you with catering (for 20 to 200 people), or you can even hold the event on their premises. Munich's home game – a location belonging to Café Miss Lilly's). By the way, Miss Lilly's offers a lunch special from Monday to Friday. (You can check it out on the café's Facebook page.) They're open daily from 9:00 AM to 1:00 AM, and breakfast is served for late risers until 5:00 PM. Have fun visiting Miss Lilly's – which, by the way, is the name of the owner's daughter.
I'll be back: Yes. There's nothing wrong with that. The service was friendly. The breakfast was simple, straightforward, and good. Very cozy atmosphere.
