Villa Antica in Pullach is a very cozy and inviting Italian restaurant. It's not exactly around the corner or in the town center, but it's well worth the trip. My companion and I had eaten in this area several times before, and that's how we noticed the beautiful Villa Antica building with its stylish, curved red lettering. We'd been meaning to try it for a while. Recently, we finally went there for Italian food and weren't disappointed.
Immediately upon entering the restaurant, you are greeted by a friendly Italian waiter who takes your coat and shows you to your table. You can ultimately choose your own seating area. Villa Antica is very spacious, offering approximately 30-35 tables of varying sizes, divided between different dining rooms, as well as a generous conservatory where we sat, and it immediately makes you feel welcome and comfortable.
After being seated, we were presented with the extensive and very well-rounded menus. These were divided into a weekly menu, a regular menu, a truffle menu, a delicatessen menu, a takeaway menu, a fish menu, a wine list, and a dessert menu – very varied and plentiful indeed. Villa Antica also offers various set menus (for €31.50), as well as three different weekday lunch menus ranging from €10.50 to €19.50. We opted for a Pizza Regina (€10.80), tagliolini with black truffle (€14.80), and crespelle (salmon wrapped in a kind of pancake with vegetables and tomato sauce for €13). The truffle pasta was excellent and very reasonably priced. The generous amount of truffle was particularly noteworthy – as you can see in the photo, a great deal of truffle was sprinkled over the ample portion of pasta. Alternatively, the truffle menu offers various other truffle dishes, such as thin ribbon pasta with white truffle and pumpkin for 29.80 euros (!), sea bass fillet on spinach puree nestled with white truffle for a hefty 42.80 euros, and at the top of the truffle menu, beef fillet mignon with Madeira sauce, polenta crouton and white truffle for 45 euros.
The Villa Antica menu is certainly characterized by relatively high prices, as was evident with the Pizza Regina with mushrooms, which cost almost €11. However, the Pizza Regina was perfectly fine in terms of taste: a crispy base, no burnt edges (a rarity, as many Italians seem to think the crust should be slightly charred!), and delicious toppings. The pizza with mozzarella, Parma ham, and arugula, at €12.80, is the most expensive on the menu. The "salmon pancake" in tomato sauce was also delicious and a generous portion. It's best to take a look at the extensive menu yourself.
After ordering our main courses, we received a small appetizer as a greeting from the kitchen, which was very delicious – a small cold bite of mushrooms and egg in a tart-like form, which had already been prepared many times over for all guests on a small side table.
The ambiance at Villa Antica is somewhat old-fashioned: dusty rose-colored seating with lots of light wood, white tablecloths, yellow-painted walls, white marble flooring – while everything is very bright, friendly, and harmonious, it's not exactly modern or even chic – commensurate with the prices. The menus are bound in dark red leather, with the individual cards inserted into clear plastic sleeves – as mentioned, nothing particularly trendy or stylish, but the food is excellent.
We paid €60 including tip for the three courses and drinks, including coffee afterwards (which came with small biscuits). Certainly not a cheap lunch, but very delicious, accompanied by very friendly and discreet staff. We didn't choose dessert. For an average of seven euros, there was a selection of items such as sponge cake, cinnamon-red wine pear with vanilla cream, white chocolate mousse, pancakes with chocolate cream, profiteroles, etc.
Also worth mentioning is the superb view from the conservatory overlooking the wide green valley. In summer, there is also a spacious terrace and plenty of tables in the sun for sitting and dining outdoors. The restaurant is open daily from 11:30 am to 11:30 pm.
I highly recommend a visit to Villa Antica. It's definitely worth the slightly longer trip. The ambiance is cozy, and you'll feel right at home in this atmosphere, as long as you're not expecting the latest amenities and ultra-modern interiors. The staff is friendly, and the food is truly excellent and worth every penny. Card payments are accepted at Villa Antica. Parking is no problem. It's not easily accessible by public transport. Enjoy!
