Cooking Made Easy | Mary Berry And here's another book review of a worthwhile read. Today it's "Cooking Made Easy" by one of Britain's most popular cookbook authors. Admittedly, I hadn't heard much about Mary Berry before, but when a recommendation led me to "Cooking Made Easy," I became intrigued. She has written an impressive 80 cookbooks and is a member of a British TV judging panel. I did some research, talking to many friends and acquaintances who love cooking, and discovered that Mary Berry is considered the grande dame of the British culinary scene and is currently conquering Germany with her books, following her success in the UK. So much for the author. Now, about the book:

Detailed step-by-step description

This book is aptly titled "Cooking Made Easy," because that's precisely what it aims to make cooking simple – even for beginners, novices, and "borderline" culinary geniuses like myself. 😉 The book impresses with numerous tricks, tips, and detailed descriptions by M. Berry. Even on my first browse, I was immediately struck by the easily understandable explanations and genuinely useful advice. For structure and content, it's a clear thumbs up, especially since "Cooking Made Easy" is the first book of its kind to be published in German. It describes over 100 classic recipes – each one so clearly explained that recreating them becomes child's play.

With helpful pictures, every single step of the process is explained, including text. Basic techniques are described, and helpful "rescue tips" are provided for those seemingly hopeless cooking situations we've all encountered (hopefully not just me... ;-)). The book's division into helpful chapters and categories also makes it easy to find your way around. Soups, appetizers, meat and fish dishes, as well as desserts and baked goods can be easily prepared with this little marvel. The recipes are classic—with an international flair—and their variety provides fresh inspiration for home cooks. To give you a better idea: you can expect recipes like roasted tomato soup, cold salmon terrine, peppered beef fillet, or creamy linguine with seafood. But classics such as a delicious vegetable gratin, penne with cherry tomatoes, and sweet treats like blackberry and elderflower sorbet or coffee and walnut muffins are also included in M. Berry's cookbook. Personally, I like the colorful variety of recipes, the numerous pictures (over 500!) and the lively and easy-to-understand descriptions best.

The book has 320 pages and over 500 color photographs. It's divided into clear chapters, making it easy to find what you're looking for, or to pick out a delicious recipe from the well-organized index. My personal conclusion: A wonderful book that, thanks to its detailed descriptions, is perfectly suited for beginners. I often find it difficult—when I cook for myself—to visualize exactly what to do at certain steps of a recipe. The detailed descriptions with pictures in "Cooking Made Easy" are a huge help. The book is a joy to use and feels great in your hands. For 300 pages of cooking fun, the price of €24.95 is more than reasonable. It would also make a wonderful Christmas, birthday, or just-because gift for a friend. With this, you're not just giving away any boring cookbook with common recipes, no – "Cooking Made Easy" offers much more: sophisticated yet understandable recipes, presented and explained with many pictures, lots of flair and joy in preparation.

Have fun with it.
